Avoid sun exposure:Stay out of direct sunlight for 2–4 weeks before treatment.
Do not use tanning beds or self-tanners.
Shave the area:Shave 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams — the hair root must remain for the laser to target it.

Avoid certain products/medications:Stop using retinoids, glycolic/salicylic acid, or acne medications (like Accutane) as instructed (often 1–2 weeks prior).
